The Black Caps have been beaten at the death by Pakistan in their Twenty/20 World Cup warm up match in Dhaka.
New Zealand struggled with the bat on a slow turning pitch, posting 145 for 9 with Brendon McCullum scoring an unbeaten 59 from 45 balls and Colin Munro 20.
Pakistan with half centuries from Kamran Akmal and Mohammad Hafeez reached 149 for 4, hitting the winning runs with one ball to spare.
Nathan McCullum was the pick of the New Zealand bowlers with two for 21 from his four overs.
Paceman Tim Southee says despite the loss it was a satisfying hit out.
"The idea of having these warm up games is to try things out before the tournament and in the conditions you're going to be faced with in the tournament.
"So, we've got one more against Australia. The result wasn't ideal but I think we gained a lot out of it leading into the game against Australia."
The Black Caps play Australia tomorrow night and will also play a separate five over game and a one over super over to simulate possible scenarios during the tournament.
